Verdi’s Requiem poster (1874), PD

First performed in the church of San Marco in Milan, Italy on May 22, 1874, Requiem by composer Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901) is a colossal work of symphonic and vocal forces written in memory of Alessandro Manzoni, an Italian poet and novelist whom Verdi admired, and it remains today a powerful expression of emotions and exaltation of humanity.

On Saturday night, November 10, 9:30pm – 12midnight EST, Maestro Rune Bergmann will lead an all-star cast of soloists, a 115-member chorus, and the full Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra to bring this masterpiece to you via live stream broadcast.
