The contemporary sport of stand up paddleboarding (SUP) “Hoe he’e nalu” originated in 16th century Hawaii when surfers used paddles to maneuver their surfboards. Therefore, it was appropriate the 8th annual Sunset Beach Pro kicked off the 2017 APP World Tour season on Oahu’s North Shore, Hawaii. Izzi Gomez and Kai Lenny took the 2017 championship crowns.
